Volume (V) = (2/3)πr³
Curved SA (CSA) = 2πr²
Base Area (B) = πr²
Total SA (TSA) = CSA + B = 3πr²
How to Use
• Drag to rotate the hemisphere in 3D
• Scroll to zoom in / out
• Adjust the radius slider to change size
• Watch measurements update in real-time
Key Terms
Radius (r) — distance from center to any point on the spherical surface
Apex — the top point of the hemisphere (pole)
Great Circle — the circular base where the sphere was cut
Hemisphere — half of a sphere divided by a great circle
Did You Know?
A hemisphere's total surface area is exactly 3πr² — the curved part (2πr²) plus the flat circular base (πr²). A hemisphere is half a sphere, but its total surface area is more than half the full sphere's surface area (4πr² / 2 = 2πr²) because of the extra flat face!
